Project Meets Goal, Sends Final Donation of 2003

Dec. 17, 2003

ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Pookai Book Project today shipped its final donation the Angsoeng Library, completing its donation goal for the second consecutive year.

The Project sent eleven copies of The Buffalo and the River by Mick Blackistone and $200. The money was sent in the name of The Cambodia Association of Illinois, whose members in December generously donated $200 to The Pookai Book Project.

With this last donation of the year, the organization met its goal of giving $1,200 in 2003 to the Angsoeng Libary.

The Pookai Project’s mission is to help the restoration of Cambodia by gathering funds and need-specific books for the nation’s libraries. These donations will promote literacy, accelerate education, speed economic development and empower Cambodians to take their place on the world stage. Its first client is the Angsoeng Library, run by leading journalist Chandara Lor.
